A Case Study of Acupuncture Treatment for Sensory Loss and Paresthesia due to Peroneal Nerve Paralysis

Abstract

|
Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the effect of acupuncture on peroneal nerve palsy with sensory loss
and paresthesia.
Methods : 28-year-old peroneal nerve palsy patient was treated with acupuncture treatment. The effects of the
treatment were evaluated with Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Sensory Change, and Numeral Rating Scale(NRS) before
and after treatment.
Results : After five treatments, VAS improved by an average of 6.5 points, improving from severe to none in terms
of evaluation criteria. Sensory Change showed an average improvement of 60%. NRS improved by an average of
6.625 points, improving from severe to none in terms of evaluation criteria.
Conclusions : Acupuncture treatment is effective for patients with sensory loss and paresthesia due to peroneal nerve
paralysis.
